[There's so much on her mind right now, that all Korra wants is a distraction. Something to take her mind off the other things.

Ironically, she'd normally go to Conner when she's feeling like this, but after the spar-gone-wrong, she thinks it's better if she...waits. Just for a little while longer.

That leaves Mako, who's new, who probably still hasn't seen most of Haven yet. Helping a newcomer learn the ropes has always been a good way to give herself a break, and even better that it's a friend from home.]

Hey, it's me. [Korra really hopes the few days of distance is enough to help with the awkward air between them.] Did you get a chance to look around yet? There's a few things I should probably point out to you.

[he'd been figuring out the functions of the phone, though it was only a matter of time until he made his experimenting public... but whatever. When he sees Korra's face pop up on the phone, he answers. At least, he had no reason for avoiding her, as awkward as he may have been]

What sort of things are you talking about?

[a pause] I've been meaning to head over to the library since I heard about it.

One of the special monsters I told you about the other day.

[She definitely needs to warn Mako about Pyramid Head and the store!]

And I can show you where the library is. I take my friend there a lot.

Hello, Mako. Where would you like to meet?

[ It's not often that Cecil keeps correspondences brief like this, but the phones have not been working properly, and saying more than a few words hasn't been going so great.

This is your lucky day, basically. ]

[short, sweet, simple. He could respect that.]

Over by the convenience store. Just... not close enough that the monster will attack me.

[ Pyramid Head. It's strange, Cecil thinks, that all the other monsters in Haven's tunnels are twisting themselves into spirals, but not him.

Time is running out, either way. And trying to find Haven South failed, and what they found instead only raised more questions. But there is only so much any one person or large group of people can do. ...Keeping distracted, helps, in the meantime. ]

That's fine. I'll meet you there soon.

[ He disconnects again, staring at his phone and the pictures in it briefly before pocketing it again and heading over to the store. They can talk more there, and if Mako isn't there when Cecil arrives, he'll wait. There is always a lot to do, always a lot of reasons to be afraid... But fear and willingness can only take a person so far. Time moves the way it wants to, faster and slower, no matter what the people experiencing it do. ]

[Whenever Mako comes back from snooping around investigating, he'll find a bucket on his bed--the kind the residents around Haven use to carry water around.

There's some fresh fruit inside, mostly apples, since they're the most abundant in the makeshift garden.]

[She'd kept to herself for a few hours after Wan's body had disappeared, lingering in Haven North to gather a few things before heading back into the tunnels. The whole time, it had felt like her body was on auto-pilot, her mind elsewhere.

So it's a bit of a surprise when she finds herself standing in front of block 29 after she's dropped her things off in her room (and left right after, not wanting to see Wan's empty bed). A look around tells her Mako isn't around at that moment, so she just takes a seat on the couch, stares down at her folded hands, and lets her mind drift.]

[it doesn't take him long to get back-- thought he does look a little ill for his troubles. Someone just got back from Haven East. But when he sees Korra there, he puts on his most put together face, even if he wasn't feeling great.]

Hey-- Korra.

Mako. I was just...

[Her mouth opens and closes a couple times, as she tries to come up with a good reason for bothering him and...comes up with nothing.]

Hey... I was wondering if you got out of the Store okay.

Anyway, I have something for you. Let me know if you're around so I can stop by.

Just got your message.

Made it out okay, but two of the people with us didn't.

[He can probably hear her relieved sigh.]

One of the guys in my group didn't make it out either. But he was already revived by the time we got back, so the two you were with must be, too.

[More softly: ] Were you injured? Be honest.

[Since their conversation on the phone had taken a more subdued turn, Korra had waited until the next morning to drop off the gift. Mako isn't there when she first peeks into the room, so Korra just leaves the container of cinnamon candy on his pillow for him to find later.

She's just about to turn and leave when she hears a sound behind her.]

[when he comes back, he wasn't expecting to really find anyone else in the room. He's a little bit dirty from some of his adventures in searching for parts for his radio tower. And he definitely still looks tired-- so seeing her was the last thing he wanted to do just yet.]

Korra?

[looking at his bed already told him what she was there for-- the pillows were thin normally. Hiding boxes was a hard thing to do.]

[She doesn't use the phones often, but she's sure picking out the person's picture is how it works.]

[the voice on the other end of the line sounds familiar to him-- but the picture associated with the phone seals the deal.

It's the girl he flipped out on earlier in the week.

For some reason, he wasn't expecting her to talk to him again.]

Yeah. You're the girl I met earlier this week.

[She falters a little when he picks up.]

Uh, it's nothing! I just wanted to make sure you're still here.

[ So Bolin has taken upon himself the duties of being the Older Brother, which means not only acting the part, but dressing for it.

So.

Styles his hair like Mako and is currently working on making his eyebrows have that sharkpoint ]

I don't even know how Mako can do this every day...

[He can do it every day because he took after not just Dad, but also mom in the sharkbrow department. You just look like Tu.

Duh.

Still, when he comes back in, he pauses.

And stares at Bolin while he tries to puzzle something out.]
