I'm not that fond of snails, and they just make the whole thing worse. [that didn't explain the first snail, but it wasn't a lie for the others.] They were one of the things I tended to notice a lot back then-- when I had it.
It must have had something to do with some of the effects everyone was getting. So-- don't look too long at spirals again. I don't know if you're more at risk now or what.

I ended up drawing them whenever I stopped paying attention, so getting them off my mind wasn't as easy as I'd hoped.
