[once he comes to a stop, he turns behind himself to grab the extra helmet]

You're not scare of motorcycles, are you?

[he holds the helmet out to her]

Not anymore.

[ he looks so cool, damn. she takes the extra helmet and moves to position herself behind him. okay, so...leg over the seat, arms around his waist. just like she did with cleo.

this is a little different, though. ]

[oh good, because he... should have planned for that.]

Cool. Got your helmet on?

Yeah! I'm ready whenever you are.

[ does mako drive as crazy as cleo does

[I DO NOT KNOW! GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT.

His biggest rush is going fast. and he doesn't have any of his abilities to do insane tricks anymore.

But he's good at darting in and out of traffic to get them away from the university area, and closer to the highways that go around the city, where he really picks up the speed, easily topping out what his motorcycle can do.

He's focused on this straight lane of highway, and making sure he doesn't overshoot the exit he wants.]

[ there's the occasional laugh or little yelp from ann; she's clinging to him, head up against his back as she closes her eyes. she's still scared to look but she likes the wind in her hair.

they're going real fast, and ann's hanging on really tight-- ]

You'd better not crash!

[he's too cool to crash. and that's canon.

but he does slow down, just to take an off ramp. This one leads to more curvy roads, but they're going up.

And he's going slower so she can look if she wants.]

Hey, look to your left.

[if she does, she can see they're going up the seaside vista point-- and there's a great image of the city and the water.]

...Whoa.

[ ann looks to her left and--it's breathtaking. the view underneath the evening sky, the city lights--it makes this twisted, corrupted city they've found themselves in just a little bit more beautiful. ]

This is incredible.

[he'd talk more-- but he's focused on making sure they find the entrance.

It's closed now, so they're gonna have to sneak in, which should be obvious when they come to the gate, and he moves to the side of the road. Realistically, when you pay... you're just paying for a parking lot. So, he pulls off his helmet after he's stopped]

The view's better from inside.

[ oh, sneaky. ann follows him, pulling off her helmet and taking in the view. it's incredible. ann feels at ease, and they haven't even gone inside yet--she swings her leg over, boots crunching the dirt beneath them, air chilly against her skin. ]

Are we sneaking in?

Yeah. It's not exactly hard to do, though.

[it just has one of those bar gates tied with a chain and lock-- not hard to crawl under or over. Mako hops over it, turning around to face her from the other side]

Just don't leave trash and no one will know we were here.

You got it! Not like I have anything on me, anyway.

[ she's going to hop over the fence and follow after him. ]

Lead the way.

There's not exactly much to lead to.

[they have to cross to a parking lot, and there's a pavilion. There's a small barrier over the cliff face. Mako just climbs over it to sit on it.

It's pretty nice-- you can see the highway, and then the beach below it with the boardwalk lights, and then the lights of the city, dotting the sky scrapers.

It's a relatively clear night, making it even easier to see.]

Sooooo... this is my idea of a crazy night out.

[ ann follows, climbing over the barrier and sitting on the cliff face, looking out at the city. she kicks her legs just the slightest bit, leaning back on her hands. it's quiet...but it's really, really nice. ]

I like it.

Me too.

It's not as nice during the day. It gets crowded pretty quick, especially in the summer.

[yep he's gonna look out in peace for a bit-- mentally identifying landmarks]

Yeah?

[ while he's looking out, ann decides to take her chances.

she scoots a little closer to him, just enough so they don't bump into each other, but...close enough.

she turns to look out at the city. ]

It's really peaceful. It's a nice change of pace, after these past few weeks...

[a blink, and then he glances over. She's closer-- he can feel it's just a little bit warmer than it was before. But... Play it cool. So he glances back out at the city.]

Yeah, I'm glad the damage wasn't permanent. And we don't have to hear about monster insurance ever again... At least I hope not.

Plus, it's beautiful out here. [as he says it, he turns to look at her.]

Yeah... I hope not, either.

Isn't it super pretty? The lights, the ocean... [ she turns and sees him looking at her--it gets her to turn a little pink, but oh how romantic this whole evening is and how Ann is such a sap.

she ends up leaning a little against him. Does she know what she's doing? Absolutely not. But it just...feels right. ]

[That-- oh.

Hey.

He glances back outwards, and then ...? puts his arm across her shoulder?

that was nice.]

[ oh? he...has his arm around her shoulder and Ann's heart is beating faster.

he's warm...

It's okay if she leans in just a little more, right? Gets a little closer? ]

[wait. wait, hold up. He has to acknowledge his crush, and he's. Not sure what to do? At least, he's not mentally prepared for this.

It's nice, but he just feels... confused.

He looks out at the water, aware of everything going on... And then, back at her]

Want to head back before it gets too late?

[ he's not the only one who's confused. ann's...not really sure what to do--did she screw up? but he's not pulling away, it's like she just moved without thinking and-- ]

O-Oh. Okay. Yeah.

[ she moves away, looking back at the city again. ] Sorry, I...

N-No, it's fine. Don't worry about it.

[now he pulls his arm away and leans back.]

It's just late, and we've had a long couple of weeks.

...Thanks. For bringing me out here.

[ so that means he doesn't mind it? okay... this is fine. Ann will rise to her feet and dust off her clothes before looking back. ]

Ready when you are.

No problem, really. Just don't tell anyone my secret.

[he swings his legs back over the ledge-- and starts walking back towards the entrance they snuck in from.]
